Initially the pipeline was created after Emancipation to continue to control former slaves. Then when vagrancy laws were challenged more, time was extended in prisons to continue doing sharecropping on the plantation lands by prisoners.

The school system isn’t “broken” as so many claim. Here’s a statistical fact: your child goes to school approximately 8 hours times 180 days. 1440 hours in a year, there are 8760 hours in a year.
That’s less than 20% of their time a year——how the fudgsicle is a school suppose to be responsible for indoctrination of your child to be an upright citizen?
You are responsible for your child. You’re also responsible for their educational attainments. There’s not enough time, mainly because there’s counter programming going on around those 1440 hours of their family, peers, society.
You literally work more hours full time than that. Imagine if your boss said the 2080 hours you work a week is now collapsed to you getting the same work done in 1440 and we expect stellar outcomes?!
If a parent effectively will lose a level of influence over their children by 12 years older with it diverting to peers then we need parents to have training, systems, etc. that will prepare them for managing those times. Connected to tax deductions needs to be standardized parenting classes—-the classes would be packed.
The next is we need like a national program on racism, like through TV, movies, etc.—-similar to how the government went to Hollywood in October of 2001 and gave tax abatements for more America positive movies, more patriotic movies. So many things, abnormal things spiral out of the undealt miasma of race as a delusion. You do know it was invented by two government consultants, Linnaeus and Blumenbach, right? To justify slavery? Right?
For profit prisons, counties that make money off of prisoners heads per individual per day—-I was a victim of that—-are tied to prisons existing. Whenever the neutral majority of people’s livelihoods are tied to a System that is corrupt, oppressive and exploitative, the corrupt System will win.
Hollywood—Weinstein—-you make BILLIONS for thousands of people and companies, you can be a monster. Everyone heard about the sexual concentration camp of his office and home but his nod, friendship, greenlight got you your check so you turned a blind eye.
That’s how the prison pipeline works,
America has no investment in people of color NOT ending up in prison when prisons like Angola and others in the south still have chain gangs picking cotton. In order to shift that system of regularly giving people 25 to 50 years for minor drug crimes, you’d put correction guard, police, DAs, judges, clerks, bailiffs, drivers, food service, fence builders, contractors out of business or into unemployment. To change the prison system would mean restructuring the financial octopus that extends from it and profits from it into the lives and communities of tens of thousands of people directly and indirectly. That means their children have to take out more student loans, credit cards don’t get paid, mortgages are late.
It’s not a Bull Connor needs to not do it kind of solution. It’s a we need a whole new industry to move tens of thousands of people into as we change how we handle prisoners and start shifting what imprisonment and rehabilitation are, where appropriate—-which is probably half of the prisoners. We then need to figure out what to do with prisons that are essential criminal colleges and the training grounds of gangs that are becoming mini nations within nations.
It would take probably a shift of 25% of the population and GDP to alter the system which is why we don’t do it. 2 million plus, more than 60% minority are not worth such a massive undertaking. What will eventually happen is like all systems it will get too big to support itself, right now it spews profit, but it will eventually simply absorb resources. What happens when it’s 4 million people in jail for a year or more? The equivalency of a small state? Then we’ll see systemic reform because to lessen resource costs will come into conflict with human rights more and more.
The internet also creates a more aware, if not educated populace, so you imprison someone with nothing to do but get chipped at by the mundanity of mental midgetry, they will (and do now) turn onto the system and chip way at it with the same bureaucratic jiggling of internal courts, hearings, infractions, ad hoc courts, etc.. Watch Locked Up or read The New Jim Crow—-it’s like an insane Kafka bureaucracy of rules courts rules infractions courts rules hearings and that’s JUST in the jail. But the prisoners learn how to advocate and attack the system back.
There will be more riots. Eventually prisons will opt of being prisons and the prisoners will take over and become rogue, nation states, from their gangdom. It’s just not organized where gangs are educated enough to contest and refute American citizenship and create new nations.
I estimate by about 10 million prisoners it’s going to get real interesting.
