I recently saw a documentary on Netflix about Venezuelan beauty pageants and how they have a political and social growth origin. I think humans, even relatively poor ones have to focus on something. Men have muscle contests, martial arts cage matches and rodeos where the physicality is what we're looking at. One could even argue the Olympics are a form of athletic pageants .
What I find fascinating are how many women are part of oppressive, demeaning systems towards women. Men dont turn a blind eye to diminution of men in the same way that women do. Perhaps anon-female president is evidence of this reduction on the part of women? Or participation in pageants is like being a rapists assistant in a preferred way? You're playing out beauty stuff but also passively harm in and controlling other women. I'm very interested in the undercurrent of social actions and reasoning.
