Do bankers treat you differently if your bank account has a large balance? by #KylePhoenix

Oh, yeah.
My mother and I walked into Chemical bank after a stop at her lawyers. She had a check with at least 6 numbers’ places and two commas.
She calmly told the front desk lady that she wanted to open a new account and we were told to have a seat in the waiting area.
A nice guy came out five minutes later, brought us over to a desk, sat us down and my mother handed him the envelope. He looked at the check. He looked at her, she smiled. I smiled. We all smiled at each other.
Then he excused himself. He ran to the back glass enclosed office, showed another older man the envelope and check and this older White man jumped up and came out to the desk and ushered us into Private Client Services.
The chairs were nicer. He was a manager and going to handle us personally. He offered us refreshments (cookies?, tea?, soda?, water?) and then gently laid out several brochures——and this was 20 years ago—-went to the back and printed out a Gold Visa Debit card for my mother within 15 minutes connected to the new account. It was at least a decade ago that I saw them and got a debit card from a manager’s desk in the late 2000s. Back then, I think we all thought they were made in some mysterious card printing facility in Nebraska.
Another manager came over and talked about investment services and made a further appointment for my mother to come in and discreetly told us that $25,000 was available as of now, at least another $100,000 by the next day, and then the balance within 3 days.
When we went back a few days later they had a presentation ready of investment ideas and a small snack-luncheon set up. They were both super polite and glad that my mother had a finance background so they could explain things in detail but not have to do rudimentary lessons. She explained that she wanted me there because she wanted me to understand everything as well.
In many ways, they stopped treating us like we were Black, which is normally what White people do—-there’s actually a psychological survey that shows how the more liberal White people are, the more condescending and smaller words they use with non_white people—-ironically conservatives in no way change their grammar, syntax, vernacular or complexity of language (lol)——and instead treated us like the check balance and its’ potential.
They also didn’t treat my mother in a sexist way, which is what men tend to do and tended to do with her in business to the point where eventually she pointed bought a husband and used him as a front when dealing with businesses like night clubs and such that were male dominated/controlled—- and were even slightly flirtatious with her.
It was an eye opening experience and then entrance into the next Social Class level and treatment/services.
