What are the down sides of being gay, health-wise? by #KylePhoenix

The proliferation of the positive ideology of STIs. They’re literally everywhere. Being HIV-, having never had an STI, never smoked, never done drugs—-I’m starting to feel more and more like a unicorn or like I’m in a white tuxedo walking through a coal mine.

I was just thinking, as I got yet the 4 millionth email with a sexual offer, naked pics, and a link to a profile—-that does honestly have his Poz status but he looks…ill. He’s 34. he looks 54.

What i was thinking is that somewhere along the compassion for those with HIV and AIDS and other STIs, we, the world, LGBTSGL community seem to have forgotten a human directive/ideology——The Human Goal is to NOT Catch Any Diseases.

No, really.

As a man of color, the CDC projects that me, and my cohorts, 50% of us will become HIV+ in our lifetimes because the proliferation of transmission is so high amongst Black and Latino men. That means that every Black and Latino dude I meet or chat up, there’s a 50/50 he is already HIV+. This seems very abstract until you have done years of work that I have at non-profits, Black and Latino male non-profits——and look out across workshops of 50 to 100 men and realize———oh, wait……..

One of the reasons, psychologically is that men who have sex with men become exhausted with the constant negotiation around safe sex, constantly having to reconsider or turn down men because of risky sexual behaviors (last night a guy, in 2022, hit me up and said his HIV Status was: I Don’t Know—-in 2022!) Or negotiate them being honest and being positive or them not being honest and being positive.

Now here’s the further kicker—-HIV is just ONE of the proliferate STIs amongst MSM, so the whole PRep and Positive but Undetectable argument is moot. And the scientific consensus is that infected with one, increases exponential the possibility and eventuality of being infected with another.

There's syphilis.

Gonorrhea.

Chlamydia.

HPV.

Herpes

Hepatitis

Super HIV

Mano

And you still have to LIKE him as a human being with his assorted baggage. And he still has to LIKE me.

It’s like a fucking shooting gallery and I’m constantly navigating, dodging, against my Safe Sex Standards to not contract anything because I have to consider what gay agencies NEVER talk about. Raising children. Say I catch some singular or combo of the above STIs?—-what about my kids? Say my lifetime, another 50 years, is cut in half?

See, what no one tells you in the mass advertising is that anti-virals don’t work for everyone, that 27+ years is the Olympiad longevity—-but it’s as low as 5+ years in places like Charlotte, due to super resistant to anti-viral strains of things like HIV and syphilis and rampant health care disparities based upon race/culture, socio economic status, age and income. They don’t tell you this because it’s bad for the ads to say—-you know PRep/it might work for you….like……maybe.

(I’m often amazed by how everyone has everything from aliens to government to COVID to 9/11 conspiracies but just shrug and accept any info about men, HIV, gay sexuality, antivirals. Shrug—-must be true. Now Mars? Teeming with life the government doesn’t want us to know about….. The one conspiracy theory perpetuated by pointedly Black man—-several have trapped me after workshops to explain this—-is that HIV doesn’t exist. Throwing all of their back of a pamphlet scientific knowledge at it, it’s a hoax. I often am able to make my escape by challenging their theory that it’s a racialized hoax with: why do African, Asian, South American, Chinese, Russian doctors see it too with microscopes if it’s an American conspiracy to destroy Black gay men? Because scientists, the world over, trained in universities that are not American would never——check the authenticity and existence of something—-just blindly accept that exists and that’s what they’re finding in their population. But Black/Latino people, for all of their railing against White Supremacy, worship it and give it All God Power. (#slaveryworked) As they ponder I skitter away.)

So I’m left in life playing Don’t Get In The Game/Become an Attractive Involuntary Celibate, Question Like I’m Sexual Columbo or Give Up and Take It As a Fait Accompli.

That’s the ongoing health risk that exists by being a man who is interested in potentially having sex with another man, in America, NYC in 2022.

The propaganda to be compassionate is proliferating accepting STIs, which are detrimental to men’s health. Truth.

Kyle Phoenix Answers: How did the personality of your loved one change following a stroke in their brain?

My mother was more effusively loving----Announcing constantly, "I love you.". & "Hold my hand!" & "I'm scared." Most emphatically. It was like the conscious filter on emotional overwhelmed was a much thinner psychic membrane.

She'd had over several years several unnoticed micro strokes that built in affecting severity. But because she chose to not exercise, was reclusive and obese and a hypochondriac from diabetes and heart disease it was difficult to ascertain. She and my stepfather wanted a magic pill to make the pain, illnesses go away, not lifestyle changes prescribed by doctors or a 30 day diabetic rehab I offered to pay for, much as they had been as substance abusers before sobriety.

She was just as manipulative, maybe more because she became bedridden. I confronted her with this as a halo of sanctity falls around the ill. In fact I was ironically the one she wanted present the most at the hospital because I was the most unabashedly direct with her and others. I once threw the nurse out of the room to curse my mother out for her ill treatment of the hospital staff.
Her subtle, intellectual manipulation became more infantile and direct and self serving.
But when she accepted there was greater value in being forthright, honest, admitting fears, I was able to do a form of counseling with her. I'd done a lot of teaching and educational counseling and was shocked at how adeptly it transferred to communication between us.

I estimate she lost motor skills about 25% and cognitive skills about 15%. Her memory loss was within a handful of years, presumably micro stroke periods but her cognitive processing, language and long term memories were reasonably intact. By that I mean each deficit affected each area so she could speak but rapid, multi person conversation was occasionally overwhelming. Frustrated she would breakdown into a childish ugly crying jag that was part real, part performance. Deeply ironic she became like my child and we had conflict on her having to accept she could be consultative but no longer my controlling parent.
Oh and my stepfather was a low IQ asshole she literally bought years ago so that she could have a man servant or servant man. She was a psychology major who chose him over a very attractive, ambitious slightly younger employed man because he was homeless, ten days out of jail and his mother had died at 13 so she intentionally did the psychological transference work on him so he'd never leave her. And he wouldn't. Eventually she left him because he was making a mess of her terminal time and cheating.
She had often admitted to me that she tried to play the two of us against each other but it only worked on him. She lovingly said she should've built more trapdoors into my psyche.
Pat, full cylinders, I'm one of few people who could get a shot at her. Think Olivia Popes' mother, Maya. Yes, my mother was briefly in radical political groups and yes, my father is so much like Eli Pope its like watching an alternate universe of my biological parents.
Which is why the effusive loving and hugging was so startling .
But she was still in there.....
I wheeled her out to a church grounds and park one Sunday to break to her that my stepfather had jumped the shark and I was going to have to deal with him in order to maintain the financial and resource stability to take care of her.

Without missing a beat, she said:"You're going to kill him?"
I replied, "No, Old Woman! Why do you always go there?! Why can't people just deal with problem people legally in your world?"
"Takes too long," she laughed. "Hold my hand."
I called her Old Woman since I was 15.

Kyle Phoenix Answers: 10 Reasons Why Gay Men Are Usually Good-Looking Vs. Straight Men?

1. Gay men have more disposable income

Lack of courting women and childcare responsibility for at least 10-20 years of adulthood. Even if they partner with another man, its highly unusual for a man, without children, to be a house husband, so there's additional income.
I'm not very vain/high appearance maintenance but I routinely try out soaps, cleansers and use high end shampoo for bubble baths.
I order FreshDirect food online, have takeout at least once a week and average a restaurant once a week in a slow year. I wear mainly cotton, wool, natural fibers 90% of the time. I've bought $50 socks---Donna Karan, a gym membership at $100 a month, my dentist is on Central Park South, my doctor on the Upper East Side, I like/buy Emporio Armani suits....socks and ties. I fast shop at Whole Foods and other middle to upscale supermarkets so food is fresh, I can go organic, less pesticides. I try to walk jog 20 miles a week to exercise and think----no kids, no ltr partner means I can do tho for hours on end, simply attend to myself.

2. More free time to research.
I teach the video Food , Inc and I regularly watch films and read books, just finished Tools of Titans and a caveat from Ferriss the, writer was to pay attention to which interviews you gloss over. So I geared down on the health sections and have made Time and money investments in increasing my insurance coverage for health additives, upgrades, etc..

3. I have more sex.
Sex is both calorie burning when you do it for a few hours, as I prefer, and lowers blood pressure and risk of heart disease. In a good year I have maybe 12-15 hours of sex a week.

4. More relaxed lifestyle than heterosexuals
The positive side of a gay culture is its much happier, more parties, spontaneous vacations, more fun/superficial if you chose to engage or get lost in that. As men we "play" more.

5. Work balance is different.
I only do work I love or enjoy. I technical work 2 1/2 days a week and running my own micro business means I can do it the other days or not or overlap work to those 2 days. Not having children, marriage yet means I'm less stressed.

6. Black don't crack.

7. Native Blood heals.
I'm part Narragansett Indian, coupled with some sturdy African and Irish/Scottish stock there are genetic benefits. But not smoking, rarely drinking, never having done drugs----food and exercise are life nuclear fuel to keeping my skin elastic, collagen gleaming, I tan nicely. Diabetes is offset by my paternal lineage, cancer is rare in my family but heart disease isn't so I exercise medium to high.

8. I practice safe sex 100% of the time
The messaging worked with me and I get antsy when it's even in the state of the city of the neighborhood of unsafe. But that eye on biological infection makes me health conscious to injuries, if I have a bump or bruise, I'm less likely to let it go unchecked.

9. Higher education and peers
I'm saturated in knowledge on health, too excess by the super in shape gays. The ones who intently explain juicing and powders and kettle balls----the sub community I engage to is health and appearance conscious.

10. Being on tv weekly I see myself, I see weight gain, I see how I appear and sound. Now ironically I'm not as self conscious or narcissistic but I have a near constant barometer.
In gay culture its like being a woman and a man, you're conscious of your appearance in a heightened way because men assess you. Hetero men dont feel the same sense of conscious scrutiny from men and women, maybe just women.
I want to stress how I'm maybe a 5 on the gay self consciousness scale because my life work is more intellectually mentally focused. Most men are rocking on a level 8 around me . They are much more intense about looking good, I rate as well put together, but damn near heterosexual on self attendance , I am low maintenance comparatively speaking. I would put heterosexual men at a 3 on the scale, high end a 6. Which is still beat by the gay 8.
The most extreme looks thing I do is vary razors, shave properly and I went to a dermatologist for a couple of years for better skin regimen. I also use Noxzema every once in awhile. :)

Watermelon May Be a Natural Viagra from Black Doctors.org

Men hoping for some fireworks in their love life this Fourth of July may want to skip the burgers and beer at the barbecue and eat plenty of…instead.

It turns out, watermelon may be a natural Viagra, says a researcher. That’s because the popular summer fruit is richer than experts believed in an amino acid called citrulline, which relaxes and dilates blood vessels much like Viagra and other drugs meant to treat erectile dysfunction (ED).
Until recently, many scientists thought most of the citrulline was in the watermelon rind. But now, experts have discovered that there is more citrulline in the edible part than previously believed.
Why does this work?
The amino acid citrulline is converted into the amino acid arginine. This is a precursor for nitric oxide, and the nitric oxide, a blood vessel relaxer that enhances circulation to all your vital parts.
How much watermelon should you eat?
A typical 4-ounce serving of watermelon (about 10 watermelon balls) has about 150 milligrams of citrulline.
Enjoy!

5 Easy Ways To Increase Your Manpower

5 Easy Ways To Increase Your Manpower

A testosterone shortage could cost you your life. As if losing muscle mass, bone density, and your sex drive to low T levels wasn't bad enough, new research shows the decline can also increase your risk of prostate cancer, heart disease, and even death. Follow these steps to lift your levels and lengthen your life.
1. Uncover Your Abs

As your waist size goes up, your testosterone goes down. In fact, a 4-point increase in your body mass index, about 30 extra pounds on a 5'10" guy, can accelerate your age-related T decline by 10 years. For a diet that'll help keep your gut in check, try the all-new Men's Health e-book, The Six-Pack Secret. You'll learn how to sculpt rock-solid abs in 4 weeks. We believe it's the most effective muscle-up weight loss program ever.
2. Build Your Biceps

Finnish researchers recently found that men who lifted weights regularly experienced a 49 percent boost in their free testosterone levels. "As you strengthen your muscles, the amount of testosterone your body produces increases," says David Zava, Ph.D., CEO of ZRT Laboratory. You need to push iron only twice a week to see the benefit.
3. Fill Up On Fat

Trimming lard from your diet can help you stay lean, but eliminating all fat can cause your T levels to plummet. A study published in the International Journal of Sports Medicine reveals that men who consumed the most fat also had the highest T levels. To protect your heart and preserve your T, eat foods high in monounsaturated fats, food such as fish and nuts.

4. Push Away From The Bar

Happy hour can wreak havoc on your manly hormones. In a recent Dutch study, men who drank moderate amounts of alcohol daily for 3 weeks experienced a 7 percent decrease in their testosterone levels. Limit your drinking to one or two glasses of beer or wine a night to avoid a drop in T.

5. Stop Stress

Mental or physical stress can quickly depress your T levels. Stress causes cortisol to surge, which "suppresses the body's ability to make testosterone and utilize it within tissues," says Zava. Cardio can be a great tension tamer, unless you overdo it. Injuries and fatigue are signs that your workout is more likely to lower T than raise it.

Enjoy!!!

Gay, Thick, Fat Ass, Chunky, Fluffy Vs. GymBots, Part 1

There was recently a YouTube posting that was forwarded on to me from a Black man in Atlanta talking about going to nightclubs full of gay men and their general decline in health and being overweight.  So I replied...........

One, I think that he has a valid point/question. I think he's generalizing to simply the gay spots he was at and those men but it is a useful, thought provoking question to discuss how and why men of color might have health/obesity issues, particularly homosexuals.

Two, higher level of estrogen, once one has gained weight, makes it difficult for testosterone to be re-activated/impel someone to go for the muscle gold.

Three, self esteem---I notice in Groups and Chat Rooms that there's an overemphasis on penis and sexual position but less so on well being. Technology, time, attention, society has a greater emphasis on appearance---a young man's game, far easier---but that doesn't mean we always grow in the internal areas of how to honor ourselves. If you're still halfway in the closet, shamed, DL, going through drama, unfulfilled, you're probably not thrilled to work out.

Four, ummmm a few of the homosexuals didn't grow up being the most physically engaged/sports centered individuals so it's not unusual that as adults, it's not a natural part of their life.

Fifth, in the video he makes an allusion to his friends talking about their excessive working habits. Men tend to subsume themselves at work because it gives an immediate response and reflection of a man whereas in heterosexual world men might have a marriage, different family dynamic, children to give him another sense of himself/his accomplishments.

Sixth, a partner, (wife, husband) would act as a force to remind a man, as they do, to take care of themselves physically. Some people are going to be more physically, kinetically inclined, others though need a reason to do it---staying attractive to your partner is it for a lot of men. But if sex is so readily available, plenty of men ready to settle for your less no matter how you look/you're ready to simply give less it's then not as much of a priority.

Seventh, food is comforting. Salt, sugar, carbs, liquor are literally designed by nature to give us a rush. If you're mildly depressed, shame based, working too much, a boost would be desired---all human beings partake in this---and we should also think about the fact that in the 20th century, we're less agrarian and food is more readily deliverable to us and culturally what does that mean? Suddenly people of color have physical and financial access to any and every kind of food they want when for generations we had restrictions and our work was more physical.

I've been both ends of the spectrum---I used to run 11 miles a day around Buffalo---like one end to the other, did marathons, etc.---eventually injuries lead me to slowing down, then I went from college into corporate America and a desk/chair/computer and even more frightening---any kind of food on Park avenue my heart could desire---the filet mignon at the Four Seasons, the 10am fresh breakfast/early lunch spread at Delmonico's on 50th, City Crab and a 4lb lobster, Billy's banana cream pie, 24hr Popeyes in Harlem---and a king sized bed.

It's taking me several years to find work arounds for my found tastes (frozen bags of veggies---2lbs or more with dinner and lunch) and long walks the length of Manhattan. I'm not Mr. Smoothie---kale and all---but I am conscious.  I also started the Body for Life program---now, I have not perfected it but I have intermittently used it to strengthen myself, drop weight, stay consistent.  it's a great program for all levels and really helps outline what to do when exercising and eating habits.

I think that while his YouTube rant goes on a bit long he does in an obtuse way ask some important questions and I thought it was really interesting how everyone defensed against it in the Thick Group rather than really talking about their weight and how it's happened positively or negatively, without all the hyperbole of "oooooh, I love myself cause Jesus made me good but my cholesterol is the same number as my weight".  Instead maybe really looking at why Haagen Dazs has a hold on a person and then they go into a food coma and then go to work, porn and clubs being the high points around that.

Sometimes the road to health and a cure is not laced with soft and fuzzy hugs and bunny rabbits, sometimes it slaps you so hard that a piece of fried chicken and biscuit crumbs come flying out.  So were you more upset by the slap or the truth or finding clever adjectives---like fluffy,m chub, thick ass, chunky, husky, stocky---to not deal with the health ramifications historically for men of color and weight?

Next time, I'll flip the coin on GymBots and the opposite end of the spectrum insanity that represents.
