Great question but we're still at a space and time where white Americans give the "right" answers of flattening answers. Amazingly enough there is systemic institutional bias, George Zimmerman juries, irrational fears and bans and wall talk and yet trillions of white are just plumb dumbfounded at this aberration called racism but lordy when they see it do they just get steamed. Why it reminds them of the time they were moving amongst them minority folk and we saw the light of humanity and decency in their hearts, the hearts of the good white, the 17 trillion of them that live here in America who were busy the days of voter suppression referendum passed or the KKK still in existence with a network of other supremacy based organizations.
Lordy, lordy.
Oh how you just love our good food and music but didn't have time to get on that school to accelerate desegregation so that 2013 is when the last school in America was desegregate, sixty years after brown v ed because well you know all them good whites was busy. Do this take your children to black and Latino playgrounds on purpose, the further you have to travel will show you spatial race privilege and the more nervous you are at just that thought, if single, dress up and go alone to black clubs....that's what it feels like at job interviews or working surrounded by white folk...if you're worried for your safety considered how many white males have regularly killed minorities and the historical skyrocketing numbers of black men killing white children and women, look up the statistical data in your own area.
Bernadette Devlin, Cheney, Schwerner, Goodman, maybe a few politicians, white who look around their Thanksgiving dinner table and see lots of different kinds, when you go out of your to protest with black lives matter or just send a check, when you troll sites to spew anti-racist rhetoric, when you join the dozens of national groups to dismantle white privilege by sitting regularly with white folk who point out the difference to you. It never dawned on you that there could be such groups because white privilege allows you to anoint yourself without review by black people ethics and standards. Let our criteria demarcate you as racist -lite.
If the the thought of people of color judging you w on their experience just made you nervous, you just got a millisecond of being non-white in America .
Flattening is when you see "us" as all the same or god help us don't see race at him. Our minority butts pucker at that one. We are meant to be seen, not invisibled, in fact it is respectful to see us and talk to us and discourse and most importantly announce your confusion based on privilege.
When you flatten us to all the same, you're assuming the privilege to flatten as if there are things, bulky and bumpy that others should let be flattened at your nod....like culture, language, mores and values that might not jibe with white folk....like the pernicious attitude of black Americans to wage war on countries far away.
When you flatten with the hand of white privilege, what are you flattening us to? Just Americans, but wait most of us minorities have only been full, legal Americans by law for two generations and America's greatest profit to the estimated tune of 27 $ trillion dollars in unpaid work hasn't even been aligned to reparations yet hence the pockets of poverty, illness and faulty education throughout all minorities in America, all, including white minorities. To flatten to a default of....white?
Imagine, maybe, shocking and titty twisting as this might be maybe many of us dont want to be white.

You can wander in neighborhoods and your concern are the residents personal human crap not the full weight of the government through law enforcement stalking you, questioning you.
Go to a black or even an Asian neighborhood and wait for the police car to stop and ask if you're lost.
It's the constant suspicion, the fear of the suspicion, the confusion of the reality of possible suspicion.
Minority groups in America have such a confounded time with white minority folk....whooopsie, you do know you're raced and the minority too, right?....because there's such a Susie Q blindness and blitheness. Not because of your character, which you think we're talking about when j'accuse racism.....no were talking about your actions.

Look around your Thanksgiving table, look at your family album, or do this pick up your phone and see how many black you can invite to your home.
We're scoring not by your self congrats but by other races estimation of your level of white racism, the same way dogs are used to sniff out folk.
