There are times in personal and spiritual growth that in order to mature, we stop playing on a simple level. The demand to evolve creates ennui, a boredom and anomie, a sort of negative detachment. The art of spiritual growth is to recognize the moment as just that. Though sometimes the moment may last days or weeks.

Find something, just yours to do . 

Last year I started buying coloring books, crayons, pencils and just sitting and coloring at lunch, the beach, on the train and I was blown away by the Zen it brings to one's self. While coloring I could think both clearly and with emotional neutrality about stuff. I also became deeply conscious of colors and paying attention to detail. It sort of blanked my mind at times and allowed me to rest mentally while being awake and focused. I got lost in time and experienced flow constantly, I'm in a whole new area from my normal distractions.  By Flow I mean Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience (Harper Perennial Modern Classics by one of the best teachers in the world,  Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
